High school dress code paused
Upon recommendation of both the Faculty Council and the Student Council, the administration of Burlington High School has designated the next few weeks as a time when no dress code will be in effect at the High School. As long as students are neat, clean and modest in their appearance, no other restrictions will be placed on student dress. Beards and mustaches are not considered part of the dress code and will not be allowed.
This experimental period will allow the student body, faculty and administration the opportunity to determine if students can accept the responsibility of dressing appropriately, and to indicate if the manner of dress has an adverse effect upon student behavior and classroom work.
This experiment will be reviewed weekly by the faculty and student councils and the administration. If at any time, it is the opinion of these groups that the school is being adversely affected by the absence of a dress code, the former code will be reinstated immediately. If students do react in a responsible way to this freedom, the dress code may be eliminated for a longer period beginning September 1969.

It’s pretty wild, of all the weddings, seeing my sister and brother-in-law in this throwback. For those who don’t know, Johnny and Carol Halpin moved to NH, and he began Billerica Jewelers on Rte. 3A, recently retiring to Florida with a lot of visits to NH. Billerica Jewelers in still in good hands as my niece, Jennifer Halpin, now runs it. She became the sixth generation of our family in the watch/jewelry repair business.
