Burlington Garden Club award for Kemps of America, Burlington MA
Ronald Simoneau of Kemp’s accepting an award from the Burlington Garden Club (“Mrs. James Robinson”) for helping beautify the town. Kemp’s Hamburgers was a fast-food joint at the corner of Forbes Ave. and Cambridge Street, where there’s now a Rockland Trust. How a fast-food burger joint beautified the town may never be known.

The town’s Finance Committee rejected a bid to refurbish the original Burlington Town Hall (left). This set the clock ticking. The building was demolished in 1969.

  1. Ha ha! I remember that sand road block at the top of the hill on Stoney Brook Rd. As pictured, people just drove right over it….

  2. Great job as usual. Too bad that the list of folks in the service missed a bunch of BHS grads. For example: Bob Heigham, Will Cooper, Gil Dashner (KIA), John McGrath and, of course, myself.

  3. Thank you posting the pictures of our Burlington heroes. It warmed my heart to see the picture of my brother Bill Small.
