A quick note from Bill
When a political party called the Whigs settled in the southern tip of Woburn, they became annoyed with the Democratic majority in town and decided to make a separate town. I was a wealthy Whig supporter, so I sent them a big donation toward their new meeting house. They were so grateful, they planned a ceremony to honor me, even though I lived in Watertown. They even planned to name their new town after me! Unfortunately I died of typhoid fever just before the ceremony, so I never got to see their new town. I hope it turned out nice. Maybe send me some pics? — William P. Winchester
