Phillip Avenue flashbacks
Hi. I’m Donna.
My family just moved from Forbes Ave. to my new house on Phillip Avenue. This new house has a garage! Here’s mom and me. She is Alice Eastman.
I’m not sure who is holding me on this fire hydrant, but I’m happy she didn’t drop me.
The new house is a little bigger, and so is the yard. Duchess likes it here.
See? It’s a big yard. Lots of room to run around. I’m getting older, and so is Duchess.
My brother.
My sister, Sandy, had a crush on this boy. I think everyone did.
Lots of things will change. We will get older. Duchess will go away. The cars will change. I wonder if the neighborhood will change. The houses? I guess I’ll just have to wait and find out.
Well, as it turns out . . .
No, the neighborhood will NOT change. The houses will stay the same even 60 years later. While most of the town churns and undulates, with add-ons and tear-downs erasing the original character of many neighborhoods, Phillip Avenue appears to be stubbornly static. If this continues, Burlington might have a bona fide “Retro Road.”

Hi Joyce! Linda from 4 Caroline 😊
Enjoyed your pics and story . Jeff from Myrna St. back when you took those pics . Remember you kids . Fun looking at them .
Yup I was at the corner of Phillip and Myrna across from you and have great memories of that street
Oh how I remember, we all played together ! I also had a teddy bear like yours !
The good ole days !
I grew up at 17 Philip Ave and graduated with Steve. They were all brand new houses with new families with the kids all the same ages. It was nothing to get 15 or 20 kids together to play street hockey or other games.

I grew up on Muller Rd. In the soutend of Burlington. And it has changed a lot since my high school days. The house my Dad built at 65 Muller Rd still stands, but many changes to it, like the many changes on Muller Rd. Have a good day

What a great look back. Thanks Donna from your former neighbor Irene from 8 Myrna Street.
Lovely photos and story..Grew up at 71 Muller Road in Burlington
Loved your story. If she is the same person, Alice Eastman used to fill in part time here and there at the Burlington Town Hall. We all loved her.
